Carmel Sells Seashells by the Seashore

Updated: Apr 4, 2018

In this episode of Oh Snap! Caroline and I visit the gorgeous seaside town, Carmel-By -The-Sea. This trip was a very low key and easy adventure suitable for people of all ages and abilities. The seaside town is full of wondrous shops and restaurants that cater to the many needs of a person or people seeking a fun and easygoing day by the ocean.

Carmel is about an hour and a half drive from Los Gatos, so on the way, we took a quick pit stop at Moss Landing, a remote beachside town equipped with a beautiful harbor and some iconic smokestacks that are great for pictures. Although we didn't stay very long, Moss Landing is a great place to hang out and have fun.

Our first stop in Carmel was just a simple stroll in the middle of downtown. Although the many shops scattering the street may seem harmless and charming, beware of the pricy garments inhabiting the shelves. Before you know it, you could spend 200 dollars on a party dress like Caroline's Mom. Other than that though, the downtown would be a great place for a family outing, a date night or just a relaxing solo excursion.

One shop that really caught our attention was an Alice and Wonderland themed shop called Through the Looking Glass. It was very charming and gave us a very mystical and vintage feel.

Time for some close ups with some of my favorite photos from downtown. While wandering around the charming streets we stumbled upon some stunning flowers, murals and shop displays. All these things play to theme of Carmel, a peaceful place full of good quality trinkets.

Finally finishing off our downtown excursion, I'll show you the unique architecture personalized to the small town. Here, there is a cottage feel mixed with some sort of European vibe to give us the beautiful buildings in downtown Carmel. The exposed pillars mixed with the contrasting white paint and curved roofs give you a sense of walking through time.

Our last stop for the day was Point Lobos, a national park put on a pedestal for its gorgeous rocky landscape and crystal waters. The water is extremely blue, and on windy days, the white caps on the water give a beautiful contrast that can give any picture a unique shot. For walking around, I would recommend good shoes. There is also a entrance fee for ten dollars, a small price to pay for a great experience at a solitary location.

Finally, to end a perfect day, we had a great drive home free of traffic. Driving by some awesome views of sunsets, we took out our cameras and rolled the windows down to get some great shots of the colorful clouds.
