Dayummm, Davenport

Updated: Feb 13, 2018

In this episode of Oh Snap! Caroline and I take a treacherous journey up north to Davenport, California to climb monstrous cliffs and dangle right in front of death's clutches. In reality, we just didn't wear the right shoes and are pretty darn freaked out by heights. Anyways, we went on one heck of a trip adventuring all over and facing our fears.

Over the course of our trip, we noticed that each beach had a unique sewage type tunnel. Being the adventurous photographers we are, we decided to go into these tunnels against the better judgement of Caroline's dad. Going into these tunnels, we were greeted with some dirty water and some questionable smells. If, one day, you decide to go into some scary tunnels, make sure to be equipped with some air freshener and shoes you don't care about.

The first beach we went to that day was the gorgeous Shark Fin cove. The beach, famous for its iconic fin, was an amazing photo spot for some unique nature shots. The cove is very family friendly and a great place for a photoshoot. While there, beware of the many tourists flocking to the spot for the gram. Also make sure to wear some shoes with good grip as the trail down is a little steep and rocky.

Between beaches, we found ourselves on the cliffs of Davenport, looking down at the beautiful rugged beaches and greenery. I highly recommend just walking near the cliff's edge and looking out into the vast ocean for some awesome nature shots. It was definitely the most accessible and serene location.

Our final beach destination was the abandoned davenport pier transformed into a very popular photography spot. Although, from pictures, the beach seems calm and beautiful, getting there was one of the scariest things I had ever done. Equipped with my awful adidas sneakers, Caroline and I climbed down a super steep incline full of loose rocks and dirt. With cameras, in hand we decided it would be better to slide down on our bums than to try and climb down. If you do decide to make the journey to this precarious beach, make sure to bring good tennis shoes and some athleticesque clothes to ensure comfort and safety.

Our final stop for the day was, of course, dinner. We went to the local chain restaurant "Burger." for, you guessed, it, some hearty burgers (a veggie one for Caroline of course). There we indulged in some fries, milkshakes, and hamburgers. It gave us a very classic dinner that satisfied us after a long day of taking photos.
