Merry Monarchs

Updated: Oct 25, 2018

In this entry of Oh Snap! my family and I traveled over to the beautiful seaside town of Santa Cruz, California to attend the annual Monarch Butterfly Festival. The festival resides at Natural Bridges State Beach, the preferred resting place for the migrating butterflies.

The festival has acquired a variety of followers who look forward to the event every year. As seen below, the festival caters to these many devout followers by having food stands and educational kiosks to tell the attendees about the monarch butterflies and why they come to Natural Bridges every Fall.

After walking through the multiple festival stands, my family and I proceeded to the friendly and boskage ridden trails to see the clusters of butterflies dotting the landscape. The trail is a wooden board trail that was very obliging to any strollers or wheelchairs. The trail is also very scenic and beautiful throughout the rest of the year and a great destination for a short nature walk or hike.

The state beach also a great place to visit throughout the year for some beachside family fun. The beach is very family friendly while also supplying any beach goers with unique tide pools and hikes on the Santa Cruz cliffs.
