Sassy Santa Cruz

Updated: May 23, 2018

In this episode of Oh Snap! Caroline and I drive over the mountains to see Santa Cruz, a sanguine town along the coast filled with countless beaches and a unique culture unlike any of the the other beachy towns we have been to. This town has an incomparable personality that is outgoing and bright, great for anyone looking for a great time.

On the far left side of Santa Cruz, you will find the Pleasure Point cliffs, a sought out location for surfers and runners alike. Every divot, or flower, or even fence gives each photo a new perspective. Bringing together the nature of the ocean to the suburbs of the town, we saw how the locals live everyday and join in to their lives for a bit. The walkways are paved and a great place for a stroll, bike ride, run, or pictures.

For our next stop, we went on the cliffs right next to the quintessential Boardwalk. From this serene perspective, we could see all the workings of a chaotic tourist destination and look at with peace and understanding. Although the views are beautiful, you have to be a bit limber to get this destination since you have to crawl through a fence (there is a big hole tho) and there are no railings so make sure to bring some balance along with some tennis shoes.

At the end of the day, we headed to downtown Santa Cruz to visit the Gratitude Cafe to indulge in some vegan food. I ordered some sauteed veggies expecting an assortment of delicious greens. Instead I was surprised with a literal plate of kale, with like no seasoning (kale + no seasoning = bleh). Well to account for this disapointment , my smoothie was pretty darn good and totally worth the 10 dollars. Anyways, the cafe was very photogenic and I also got a healthy meal out one of these photo trips so in the end, it was a win. But if you do go here, beware of the kale. No matter what people say about it being a super food and all, its gross.

P.S. Thank you Mr. Garret for bearing with us through our rocky photography and pretentious captions ;). Your help and motivation with this project has really allowed me to grow my strengths and make new friends. You are awesome!! -Delaney
